ContentsTrip DescriptionOn the weekend of November 14th through the 16th, the Kiwanis Club of Shelbyville will be hosting a trip to Asheville, North Carolina, for a Candlelight Christmas Evening at the Biltmore Estate. The trip, by chartered motor coach, will depart from Shelbyville early afternoon on Friday and return to Shelbyville Sunday evening. After a dinner break in the Knoxville Tennessee area, we will be treated to an evening ride punctuated with illuminated seasonal displays as we make our way to our evening’s destination, the Smoky Mountain Resorts/Rodeway Inn in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Friday evening and Saturday morning will be spent in the Gatlinburg area with free time Saturday morning for touring and shopping in Gatlinburg. Early Saturday afternoon, we will board the motor coach for the trip to Asheville, North Carolina. After checking into the Hampton Inn Biltmore Square, we will have a chance to freshen up and prepare for the evenings festivities. A brief ride by motor coach will take us to Biltmore, the Estate of the late George Vanderbilt. We will tour the mansion and then be treated to a sit down dinner at the Stable Café on the estate grounds. Sunday morning, after our continental breakfast and checking out of the hotel, we will return to the Biltmore Estate for further exploring of the gift shops, gardens, and conservatory. After a buffet brunch at the Deerpark Restaurant, we will tour the Estate’s winery before boarding the motor coach for the return trip home. We will have a dinner stop in the Lexington Kentucky area before returning to Shelbyville.
